SBY: Let's Terry Jones for Peaceful Protest

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said that the planned burning of the Koran by a citizen of the United States (U.S.), Terry Jones, not only hurt the feelings of Muslims namum also harass people of other religions. Therefore, Yudhoyono supports the action of rejection raised interfaith leaders in foreign countries, including Indonesia.
"Terry Jones' plan that will burn the Quran does not only hurt the feelings of Muslims, but also other people," Yudhoyono said in a speech specialized in Indonesian and English at the State Palace on Friday, September 10, 2010. Yudhoyono was accompanied by prominent interfaith leaders in Indonesia.
Yudhoyono's statement was made several hours after Jones stated that he would "cancel" event Quran burning in front of the church that he led, Dove Outreach Center, on Saturday, September 11, 2010. However, current information from the Associated Press news agency said that Jones corrected the word "cancel," but rather "suspend" until there is agreement "barter" of the transfer project of the Islamic Center near Ground Zero in New York.
Yudhoyono hoped the religious communities around the world must unite to prevent Jones' plan, which is immoral. Thus, Yudhoyono thanked the religious leaders in Indonesia that remain compact and united and not be provoked to action anarchist.
"This is a good example, there is a healthy and collective action could solve the problem. Whatever problem occurs among religious believers, burning holy books, destroying houses of worship, the bombing is an act uncivilized. Therefore, let us prevent together," Yudhoyono said.
"I hope if there are protests, demonstrations, should be in a peaceful atmosphere. Prevent violence, prevent anarchy. We're one, we are equally disturbed and does not want what is planned Terry Jones," said Yudhoyono.
Earlier, President Yudhoyono has delivered a special message to U.S. President, Barack Obama, Nation Indonesia over concerns about Jones' plans and urged the U.S. government to prevent the action. In addition, Yudhoyono also called UN Secretary General in order to participate to take steps to prevent Jones's plans and actions that can break the inter-communal harmony.
